| Why an Informatory Website?
There is an increasing interest among companies in creating their own web sites as a way to support communication with their clients. For this reason, websites can be utilized in numerous ways: highlighting initiatives and events; making available things such as policies, profiles and product outlines; and providing links to their products on offer.
In order to assist in determining what types of information should be given, we have provided some examples of company related information and have categorized them as being (1) Basic information, (2) Personal information and (3) Information that may be
personal information, depending on its content.
Basic information that companies may wish to include on their websites are:
1. Location
2. History (without personal information of any individual)
3. Profile
4. Logo, Dress Code
5. Style guide
6. E-mail addresses that do not identify individuals (e.g., info@company.uk)
7. Personal Information
It is a general principle, companies and boards should not post personal information on their websites. For doing so, the company must obtain a written consent of the individual(s) to whom the information relates.
